Yugioh help/when the oppenent uses a trap can you use mst?

can mystical space typhoon destroy an activated card?

and if it can does the destroyed cards effect still work?

Mystical Space Typhoon can be activated at anytime other than the Damage Step and can be chained to any card but a Counter Trap card. This means that Mystical Space Typhoon CAN be chained to a Trap Card being activated (unless it is a Counter Trap) and it will destroy the Trap Card before it's effect activates. HOWEVER, typically only a Continuous Trap Card needs to actually be on the field for it's effect to work. Most Trap Card Effect's still work even if the card itself is destroyed. What this also means is that unless a card says that it NEGATES the Trap Card's Effect, the effect will still go through even though the Trap was destroyed. So in short, yes MST can be activated in response to a Trap, but it will not negate the effect of that Trap.

MST doesn't negate a magic/trap cards effect so using MST on an activating M/T is pointless
