Yugioh i wanna attack and did but i had less attack do i get destoried or not?

what happens if you attack a higher attack monster in yugioh

your monster gets distroyed and you lose life pionts =ATK of bigger monster-- ATK of smaller monster unless some card says otherwise all stater packs include a rule book you should go get one oh and a monster attacking a monster with biggr defence then you just lose life points = Def -- Atk

if i remember correctly you die if the monster you attack is in attack mode and their attack points are higher than your own, but if its in defense you just lose life points.

your monster dies and you lose life points equal to the atk difference of the two monster that battled.  Unless otherwise stated on the card.

Okay, this is a very simple question to answer, the monster you used gets destroyed and the difference between the ATK of your monster and the monster that it battled with, gets subtracted from your Life Points.
