they activate dark bribe

i then i activate mirror force

and they ***** and say i cant do that

please tel me whos right

YOUR OPPONENT IS RIGHT!!

If he attacks with a monster and you activate stauch defender, but he chains with Dark Bribe, you CANNOT activate Mirror Force, because Dark Bribe is Spell Speed 3, and Mirror Force is Spell Speed 2, Dark Bribe is faster and CANNOT BE CHAINED except by ANOTHER SPELL SPEED 3 card (i.e. Quick-Play Spell / Counter Trap).

I know, this is a complicated answer, IF you activated Stauch Defender AND Mirror Force one after the other right away, you wouldn't have a problem, but since he chained Dark Bribe to Stauch, Mirror Force's chance to activate was timed out. It's ALL about the timing.

In this case, you MISSED THE TIMING. This is the one rule that gets people ticked at each other in duels.

Trust me, your opponent is right, Mirror Force CANNOT chain Dark Bribe. Read the sources below, I think you'll understand.

I answered a question just like this on another. You must have been in the same duel. As i told the other one, your should be right. staunch says when you declare an attack, not the actual attack. So the say I attack with... You activate staunch, they play bribe. Now the actual attack happens, then you can play mirror force. I'm not entirely sure but this seems correct. I cant find a ruling on it but it makes since. Staunch is activated when they declare an attack and mirror force is when they attack. Im not saying chain mirror force to dark bribe. The bribe/staunch dikema resolves at the declaration of the attack and mirror force can be activated as soon as the dark bribe/staunch chain resolves.

NEW INFO: I asked the question to pojo(a very trusted site with judges and very experienced players) and I have to admit that I was wrong. I'll cite it.

dark bribe is a counter trap, only another counter trap can beactivated at theis point, and plus mirror force missed the timing when you actiivated staunch defender
