Yugioh rulebook questions?

These questions are based of the rulebook, which you can see at yugioh-card.com

I've been playing since metal raiders was out, and thought i knew pretty much everything there was to know, but i only had the v2 book, and the one i looked at is v6, so here are some questions...

1) on page 14 of the book, it says if you set a monster of lvl 5 or higher, you don't need a tribute? so i could set labyrinth wall without offering a monster? and im guessing that you also dont need to offer a monster if you flip it, right?

2) on page 21, it says that counter traps are highest...so that means if somebody uses Horn of Heaven, then you can't use a mystical space typhoon to stop it?

3) on page 39, it talks about turn priority...since my friends and i never anounce phases, only the "end turn", if it were my turn, and he's about to activate a card, i cood say that i have turn priority and use heavy storm?

thanks!

  1. Q 1. u do have to tribute for a set lvl. 5 or higher

Q 2. u can u se a mystical, it means if it is in a chain

Q 3. only when he activates the card and the effect resolves if it is an immidiate effect

  2. I cannot get the rulebook to load on my computer but i can answer these because I play at locals and regionals and I consider myself pretty good at this game. Question 1: since I cannot see the rulebook i cant see what you read, but yes, you have to tribute for a monster of lv or higher no matter if you set it or summon it. Question two, counters are a higher spell speed than magics and other traps. you can only chain a counter to a counter. Even if you could chain MST, it only destroys a spell or trap, it doesn't negate it. question 3 is a little difficult to explain. Turn priority means if it is your turn and you summon a monster with an ignition effect, meaning you have to choose when to activate it, you have priority to activate it before your opponent can activate anything. For example, your opponent has trap hole face down and you summon exiled force and you call priority. your opponent cannot activate his trap until after the effect happens, meaning you get exiled forces effect before your opponent can activate trap hole. Another example, your opponent has torrential tribute face down and you summon snipe hunter and call priority to use his effect to try and destroy his other spell or trap. you get to use the effect but as soon as you do, then he can chain torrential. your effect happens first then torrential happens. its a little confusing but i hope i helped.

  3. read page 14 carefully it says you do need to tribute if you choose to set a monster.

it would not negate it u would need seven tools of the bandit or solemn judgment  so on to negate it mst would do nothing

it seems right but he could still activate in response to your heavy storms activation
