does "DDR different dimension reincarnation" need to have a target already removed from play to be able to play it?

eg. i recently played a macro deck and first turn hand consisted of

2x caius

1x DD survivor

1x DDR

1x shrink

1x banisher of the radiance

could i have summoned banisher, then played DDR discarding survivor to bring back the survivor? ... i know you can bring back the card you discard i just want to know if there needs to be a legitimate target already in the RFP zone

cheers in advance

  1. No, you cannot. According to the ruling for Zombie Master and Fossil Excavation (the closest rulings I could find for this card), you cannot activate the card if there is nothing to target, there has to be at least one card that can be brought back before you are allowed to discard a monster to try to bring something back.

  2. No you can't do that. DD survivor has to be on the field in order to be removed from play.

  3. No you can't. DDR needs a target before its discard. Its right on upperdeck. So you can't get the card you discarded.

  4. Yes that is possible, the card states: First discard, Then select a monster. So you can Summon your discarded card.
