Yuki Fukushima beats Suwarno Renna in first round showdown at Singapore International Series
Japan’s Yuki Fukushima powered her way into Women’s Singles second round after showing stunning performance against Indonesia’s Suwarno Renna in first round showdown at the Li-Ning Singapore International Series 2012 in Singapore, on Wednesday, August 15.
The lower ranked Yuki, who is un-seeded in Women’s Singles draw, put up staggering show of aggressive badminton and she managed to beat Suwarno who was the eighth seeded player in the tournament.
The un-seeded Yuki narrowly lost the first game but shower her aggression in the following sets and won the battle in three games by consuming 45 minutes on the court.
The higher ranked Indonesian shuttler, on the other hand, took the first set with a tight score but failed to live up to the expectations and lost the following both games and crashed out in the first round by losing the battle with a reasonable difference.
The opening game was fantastic when both shuttlers put in their best effort to take an early lead but no one could manage it until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, they continued entertaining the crowd with their elevated performance on score board until the score reached at 20-20.
At this critical stage, Yuki failed to play effective shots and eventually lost the set with a narrow margin of 20-22.
However, in the following set, Yuki showed her brilliance as she did not repeat the mistake which she committed in the opening game and remained in commanding position until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yuki continued showing her remarkable craft on court and did not let her challenger to get closer this time.
The in-form Japanese was focused in the ending points and she easily bagged the set with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the decider, Yuki stunned her rival by playing on a completely different level as she showed no mercy to Suwarno and remained successful in ending up the set with an incredible margin of 21-6.
The lower ranked Yuki sent Suwarno packing in three games with a convincing 20-22, 21-15 and 21-6 score on the board.
