Yukiko Watanabe pockets Girls 100m backstroke gold – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Yukiko Watanabe of Itoman pocketed gold medal of the Girls 100m backstroke on day two of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Saturday, September 22.
Watanabe demonstrated her commendable efforts in the double lap backstroke discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
Watanabe faced tough competition from her following swimmer, Janet Y Hu of NCSA throughout the race but managed to overpower her over the wall for the title.
She remained just a stroke ahead of her following swimmer and touched the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 03.49 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by 0.24 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as second position holder by producing a time of 1 minute and 03.73 seconds.
Hu stayed full body length ahead of her subsequent rival, Miki Kamemori of Itoman, who occupied third position of the event by reporting a time of 1 minute and 04.62 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Lisa N Bratton of NCSA, who was only 0.13 seconds away from the bronze medallist and tapped the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 04.75 seconds.
Bratton was trailed by Aya Watanabe of Itoman, who remained only 0.07 seconds behind and finished her race in fifth best place by reporting a time of 1 minute and 04.82 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Mickayla Hinkle of NCSA, who was just 0.06 seconds behind and submitted a time of 1 minute and 04.88 seconds.
Subsequently, Hinkle remained in a lead of two body lengths over Jessica R Short of NCSA, who ended her swim in seventh place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 06.72 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Mayu Kimoto of Itoman, who was almost 0.80 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 07.51 seconds.
In addition, Watanabe was overjoyed with her title claiming effort and said that she would keep working hard to excel at higher levels of swimming.
