Yuliya Efimova clinches the Women’s 100m breaststroke title: Speedo Grand Challenge – Swimming News
World and European champion, Yuliya Efimova of Russia, has clinched the Women’s 100m breaststroke title with the fastest time of 1 minute and 06.77 seconds, in the Speedo Grand Challenge at William Woollett Aquatic Centre, in Irvine, on May 27.
More importantly, the win lifts her to the fourth place in the world rankings after this event.
Yuliya Efimova is a well-known swimmer of Russia and she has specialised in the Women’s breaststroke swimming style. Being a professional swimmer, Efimova has won many fabulous titles in competitive swimming events so far.
She snagged the gold medal in the Women’s 50m breaststroke final in the 2009 World Championships in Rome. She won the silver medal in the Women’s 100m breaststroke meet in that championship as well.
Efimova captured the Women’s 200m breaststroke title in the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven. She took home two gold medals in the Women’s 50m and 100m breaststroke events in the 2010 European Championships (LC) in Budapest.
Yuliya also won three gold medals in the Women’s 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events in the 2007 European Championships (SC) in Debrecen.
On the other hand, Jessica Hardy of USA grabbed the silver medal in the Women’s 100m breaststroke final with a distinctive time of 1 minute and 07.72 seconds.
Hardy, the four time world and four time pan pacific champion was very thrilled by her individual performance in the 100m breaststroke final at William Aquatic Centre.
Elizabeth Smith of UN-PC/Stanford captured the bronze with a time of 1 minute and 10.81 seconds and Jasmine Tosky of PASA wound up fourth in 1 minute and 11.37 seconds in the corresponding meet.
Stina K. Gardell of Trojan secured the fifth spot in 1 minute and 12.50 seconds, while Brianna R. Francis of UN-UT finished sixth in 1 minute and 13.12 seconds and Jordan S. Danny of RTLR earned the seventh place honours in 1 minute and 13.22 seconds.
Sophia Yamauchi was surprisingly placed eight in the 100m breaststroke in 1 minute and 13.68 seconds.
