Yuliya Efimova secures Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – Swimming news
Yuliya Efimova of UN-20-CA/USC secured gold medal of Women’s 200m breaststroke on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 21-year-old Efimova devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant breaststroke discipline as she occupied the title. With her notable pace, she showed no competition from her challengers and tapped the wall for the title.
She continued her commendable pace in the playoff of the event as she pocketed the title with an effort of 2 minutes and 24.31 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Joline Hostman of SWE/USC, who was 1.70 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 26.01 seconds.
Andrea E Kropp of UN-20-CA, who was 1.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 27.08 seconds, obtained third fastest spot of the race.
The bronze medallist was followed by Stina Gardell of UN-20-CA, who was almost seven seconds slower and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 33.86 seconds for fourth position.
KC C Moss of UN-12-PC, who was almost 1.40 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 35.41 seconds, obtained fifth position of the race.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Kasey Carlson of UN-20-CA, who was almost 0.25 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 35.66 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Ella F Eastin of SCAL-CA, who was only 0.08 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 35.74 seconds.
Eighth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sarah B Haase of UN-12-PC, who stayed 0.60 seconds slower from upsetting her former finisher and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 36.34 seconds.
In addition, Efimova received massive appreciation from the audience for her gruelling pace after the race while the winners were called upon the medal rostrum for medals at the victory ceremony of the event.
