Yuliya Efimova wins Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown -
Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions
European champion, Yuliya Efimova of Trojan, clinched the Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions, held in Mission Viejo, California, on June 26, 2011.
Efimova competed her distance in the corresponding race with a winning time of 1 minute and 06.97 seconds. Earlier, she posted a record time of 1 minute and 06.77 seconds in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke in May, 2011.
Jillian Tyler of Minnesota nabbed the silver medal in the respective meet with a time of 1 minute and 07.87 seconds, for her 16th spot in the international swimming rankings in the current year, whereas, Kayla Voytechek won the bronze medal in
a time of 1 minute and 11.07 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m breast-stroke finale, Kosuke Kitajima of Trojan nabbed the golden crown with a sterling time of 1 minute and 01.01 seconds. Earlier, he set the fastest time of 59.44 seconds in the following race in April, 2011.
Placed second in the Men’s 100m breast-stroke meet was Ed Moses of Rose Masters, with a time of 1 minute and 02.71 seconds. He beat his preliminary time of 1 minute and 03.69 seconds. Andrew Bree of Trojan snared the bronze medal with a time of 1 minute
and 02.96 seconds.
Katie Hoff of FAST snared the Women’s 200m Individual Medley crown with a winning time of 2 minutes and 11.33 seconds. Erica Morningstar of Canada earned silver in the respective meet with a time of 2 minutes and 11.89 seconds, whereas, Yuliya Efimova rounded
out the top three with a time of 2 minutes and 13.93 seconds.
More importantly, Hoff beat Katinka Hosszu’s previous record of 2 minutes and 13.52 seconds, set back in 2010. She improved to the seventh spot in the current year's international swimming rankings.
Clary, Van Swol and Ingram are yet to vie in the Men’s 200m Inidividual Medley, Men’s 100m butterfly and Women’s 100m back-stroke categories at the event.
