Yunel Escobar about to be traded by Miami Marlins, according to a source - MLB Update
First day of the Baseball Winter Meetings is producing exciting news. Some are pleasing for the fans but others are adding to their woes.
Unfortunately for the Miami Marlins’ fans, there is still nothing to cheer about.
Trade of another player belonging to their team namely Yunel Escobar is in the making.
By all accounts, it has been one of the worst off-seasons experienced by the Marlins’ fans. The players that they could look up to for splendid shows have been traded by their team.
The likes of Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle, who were the centre of their attention in the last season, are no longer present on the roster.
Their expectations for the upcoming season are at the lowest ebb.
Before they can get rid of miseries inflicted by the recent fire sale carried out by their team, another recipe of disappointment is being prepared by the club for them.
Third baseman, Escobar had a below par 2012 season but his potential to put up stand out shows in the upcoming years is doubtless. According to experts, he is likely to improve immensely within the next few seasons.
There is every reason to believe that just as Hanley Ramirez all of a sudden became a consistent performer as soon as he left Miami, Escobar will start unleashing his best after departing the club.
That will then make the Marlins regret and feel bad for having taken such a poor decision.
What is demoralising for the fans is that officials are not using the money which has been saved by sending high-salaried players to other teams.
Instead of filling vacant spots on the roster and visit the free agent market, they are least bothered about the team’s chances in the 2013 season.
Confidence building measures can go a long way in winning back those disgruntled fans and making them stay loyal to the team.
Only by adding quality players in the team, their fans can have a reason for their attendance in the stadium next year.
Fans will be hoping that the Marlins take serious steps and build up a strong team for the future in the coming days.
