Yunel Escobar shows excitement to play for Miami Marlins – MLB Update
Shortstop Yunel Escobar seems excited to play for the Miami Marlins next Major League Baseball season. He was recently traded to the Miami Marlins from the Toronto Blue Jays as part of the mega deal.
Escobar last played for the Blue Jays and finished the season on high note. He consistently played throughout the season and won many games for the Blue Jays.
He played with a hitting average of .253 along with nine homers, 51 RBIs and .300 OBP.
Overall he possesses career .282 hitting average along with 53 homers, 298 RBIs and .353 OBP which certainly makes a good addition to the Miami Marlins.
“If I tell you that I wasn’t surprised at first, I would be lying, but then I thought that it was the best that could happen to me, I’m at crucial moment in my career, and I don’t plan to waste it. The Marlins have put their trust on my skills, and I hope not to let them down — or the fans,” Escobar said as he explained in the media expressing his great ambition for his new team.
He added, “I can say that Miami is my home, and there’s nothing better than to play where I have so many friends, so many compatriots. The commitment is big, but it’s no greater than my desire to play here.”
Recently Miami and Blue Jays completed a trade which made big news. Both sides exchanged some of the top players.
Miami sent their three best players while Blue Jays also sent some of the top prospects.
As this trade happened, many controversies hit the media. First this deal was being reviewed by the baseball commissioner Bud Selig while later all the big players involved in this trade started to talk about their respective teams promises on not trading them.
Mark Buehrle recently, talked openly in the media and told some reporters that he was lied to on many occasions by the Miami Marlins’ top management.
He expressed his anger and criticised the Marlins' front office who made assurances to Buehrle that he will be given a long contract as the time of his signing with the South Florida baseball franchise.
