Valery Hovhannisyan has confirmed that the Russian Premier League club have stolen the Armenian-American striker from under the noses of Stoke City and Everton FC
Though Spartak Moscow remained tight lipped over disclosing Yura Movsisyan’s signing from FC Krasnodar, the player’s agent has confirmed that the Moscow-based club have agreed a deal despite facing stiff competition from the likes
of Everton and Stoke City.
The 25-year-old had expressed a desire to leave the Krasnodar-based club earlier last month after insisting that he is likely to leave his current club for a bigger club that plays in the UEFA Champions League regularly.
Valery Hovhannisyan revealed that Spartak made him a lucrative offer which he along with his client failed to deny.
“My client wanted to play in England but Spartak, a Russian top club with a great history and great fans, changed his mind. Had there been any offers from the top teams in England, perhaps he would have gone elsewhere.”
“But now that he has joined Spartak, he wants to do everything to help the club to become the champions. I have no doubt that he will adjust to his new team quickly and will be a great success.” Hovhannisyan was quoted as saying.
The California-born player is likely to get 1.5 million Euros annual salary after signing a reportedly five-year contract at Luzhniki stadium. The mercurial forward attended Spartak’s training session yesterday and met with the
club’s representatives ahead of the move.
However, Movsisyan’s agent failed to confirm the details of the contract after saying that it is not appropriate to tell the figures in public.
“Of course, the salary factor plays an important role but we would like to keep it as a secret," he concluded.
Krasnodar’s head coach, Slavoljub Muslin, accused Movsisyan of changing his club due to financial reasons but Hovhannisyan has denied the allegations after telling that Movsisyan wanted a change in order to play for a bigger club
with bigger ambitions.
Hovhannisyan went on to back his client to become the top-scorer in the Russian championship, having already scored nine goals in 13 league appearances so far this season.
