Yuran praises Slutsky and blames Spalletti behind Zenit’s second-place finish – Football News
Former Dynamo Kyiv forward, Sergei Yuran, has lavished praise on Leonid Slutsky after the 42-year-old helped CSKA Moscow win their eleventh league title this season and blamed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti behind Zenit St. Petersburg’s below
par campaign last term.
“It should be noted that CSKA showed good example of wisdom, consistency and professionalism this season. There were rumours about Slutsky’s dismissal all season long but Giner showed patience, gave his backing to the manager and
got the reward in the end. There are a lot of people who still talk negatively about Slutsky but I think that they all are jealous of the manager. Slutsky has now silenced the critics after a successful season. I think Spalletti failed to help his side despite
investing too much on the players. I think Spalletti is lucky after not being sacked,” the Legends Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Slutsky was on the brink of leaving Luzhniki stadium earlier this season after the critics blamed the former Uralan Elista manager behind the Moscow-based club’s failure to win silverware since 2006.
News in Russian media started to link Slutsky with a host of top European clubs after the manager himself expressed a desire to try his hand in another league away from the Russian territory.
However, the management at CSKA did not let Slutsky leave and stick with their manager, showed patience and got the reward following the Russian outfit’s successful campaign last term.
Slutsky helped the Moscow-based club become Russian Champions and reclaim the Russian Cup after six long years.
The former FC Moscow manager, meanwhile, still have a chance to add another trophy to the club’s hall of fame, should he managed to lead his side to win Russian Super Cup tie against Zenit St. Petersburg at Rostov-on-don next month.
Yuran went on to tell that Spalletti did not make the right signings to save Zenit from a troublesome season, saying that the former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542
last year.
The St. Petersburg club reportedly paid in the access of 60 million Euros to sign the aforementioned players.
