Anzhi Makhachkala’s Herman Chistyakov hails the appointment of Yuri Krasnozhan as their head coach and explained the reason behind signing him
It has been over three months since Anzhi Makhachkala parted company with Gadzhi Gadzhiev, and illustrious managers such as Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Avram Grant have been linked with the Dagestani club ever since.
But the Russian outfit has now distanced itself from such speculations by announcing the appointment of Yuri Krasnozhan as its head coach. The former Spartak coach has signed a five-year contract with the Russian outfit.
Anzhi vice-president, Herman Chistyakov,
has expressed his delight upon the latest acquisition and tipped the Dagestani club to prosper under the Russian tactician.
Reports in Russia had earlier suggested that the Dagestani club has started negotiations with the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC manager, Hiddink, and agreed to sign the Dutch national on a three-year contract.
However, the deal failed to materialize after Hiddink’s agent demanded extra time from the Russian outfit.
Krasnozhan was previously employed by Lokomotiv Moscow but had to leave the Moscow-based club after he was accused of match fixing in the Russian Premier League.
Suleyman Kerimov, Dikaya Divisiya president, earlier this season, had promised the Anzhi faithful a professional and talented head coach after sacking Gadzhiev. He has fulfilled the promise by signing a true professional in Krasnozhan.
“Krasnozhan is one of the best Russian specialists. The club always wanted to bring in a Russian coach who can raise the level and confidence of our home grown players and a respected one.” Herman Chistyakov
was quoted as saying.
He added: “We held preliminary talks with different candidates but we chose him above all and I think the fans will understand why we signed him.”
Chistyakov admitted that the acting head coach, Andrei Gordeyev, commanded the Russian outfit in a very difficult situation and thanked the former Dynamo Moscow man for helping the Dagestani club claim a mid-table spot at the end
of the second league round.
