Yuri Metlushenko wins the fourth stage of the Tour of Taihu Lake 2012
Yuri Metlushenko of Team Konya Torku Seker Spor bags his fifth stage victory of the 2012 season after his dazzling performance during the stage 4 of the Tour of Taihu Lake 2012.
The Ukrainian took a total time of 3 hours, 34 minutes and 26 second to occupy the top podium position restricting his major opponents.
Alois Kankovsky of Team ASC Dukla Praha finished second with Kevin Peeters of Team Landbouwkrediet-Euphony, Leonid Krasnov of Team RusVelo  and Joeri Stallaert of Team Landbouwkrediet-Euphony securing the third, fourth and fifth positions in the respective
order.
“Knowing a bit about the course, when I saw the wind this morning, I predicted that it wouldn’t end up in a bunch sprint finish," Metlushenko said.
“After the last curve at 500 metres to go, the Russians attacked on the right side of the road".
“So I took a big risk by opening my sprint on the left against the wind with 400 metres to go”.
“Thanks God I’ve won. I also owe this victory to the directeurs sportifs who have taught me during my long career to always race at the front”.
The 36-year-old is enjoying an outstanding season and his previous victories this year include a first overall finish at the Tour of Trakya 2012 along with three stages at the race.
He also claimed stages at the International Azerbaijan Tour, Baltic China Tour and the Tour of Taihu Lake 2012.
Jullien Sebastien of Team JLC and Meiyin Wang of Team Hengxiang Cycling succeeded during the first and the second sprints of the race.
Overnight general classifications leader, Milan Kadlec continuous his dominance and has now extended his lead to 9 seconds over Floris Goesinnen of Team Drapac Cycling.
Joey Rosskopf of Team Type 1-Sanofi was 7 seconds behind Kadlec after the stage 3 classifications but has now dropped down to the 15th overall spot after his 54th place finish during the stage 4 of the race.
Ko Ho Choi of Team Hong Kong, David Mc Cann of Team RTS Racing and Kong Lok Cheung of Team Hong Kong claimed the third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
