Yuriorkis Gamboa excited ahead of his bout with Daniel Ponce de Leon – Boxing news
The current unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association Featherweight champion, Yuriorkis Gamboa, is pretty excited ahead of his mega showdown with the current World Boxing Council’s Latino Featherweight champion and a former World
Boxing Organisation World Super Bantamweight champion, Daniel Ponce De Leon .
The El Ciclon de Guantanamo, Gamboa, and Daniel ‘El Leon’ Ponce are both set to meet in a 12-round featherweight rumble, which will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
This bout will also be televised live on the Home Box Office (HBO) World Championship Boxing.
The undefeated Cuban prospect, Gamboa, who holds a record of winning all of his 20 professional fights, with 16 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he is fully geared up for the fight, as Gamboa believes this fight is going to bring
him a lot of opportunities.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I want to thank Bob Arum and Amet Öner for this great opportunity I am going to have boxing Ponce De Leon. I want to show what I have on September 10 and see what else will come for me after that.”
Gamboa’s promoter, Bob Arum, in the meanwhile also commented on his fighter. Arum claimed his fighter is one of the best out there in the Featherweight division and on September 10 he will be tested against a man who is known for his tremendous punching.
Arum also reckons it is going to be an explosive fight for the audience.
Arum remarked, “Yuriorkis Gamboa is recognized as one of the great fighters in boxing today. He’s going to be tested by Ponce De Leon who is a tremendous puncher and a very good fighter so it should be an extremely interesting match that will be shown live
on HBO.”
Gamboa, who won an Olympic gold medal in the flyweight at the 2004 Summer Olympics, is a very skilled boxer. However let’s see if he can once again beat his opponent in the ring.
