FC Rostov’s president urges his side to stay in the Russian Premier League and admitted that winning the cup tournament will be an added bonus.
In the upcoming Russian Cup semi-final, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 will face Rubin Kazan at Yekaterinburg stadium. The Selmashi managed to win the quarter-final against FC Fakel Voronezh on penalties.
Rostov’s Director-General, Yury Belous, has expressed his views about the upcoming cup tie against the Tatary and commented on the poor pitch conditions at this stage of the season.
Belous warned his team against complacency and told them that they need to work hard for the upcoming crunch cup tie as they are to play against a sterner opposition this time around.
He praised Rubin, admitting that the Volzhane are playing quality football at the moment and are the favourites to win the respective fixture. Belous, while praising the Russian outfit, also pointed out their 4-0 win during the
quarter-finals against Lokomotiv Moscow at home.
There’s little arguing that Rostov are struggling in the league, having claimed just 6 points in the last six outings. Worse still, they will play the cup tie after back-to-back league defeats against Volga Nizhny Novgorod and
Amkar Perm respectively.
Belous went on to admit that their prime focus will be to stay in the Russian top division and urged his side to claim more points from the remaining matches of the ongoing league campaign.
“We have two objectives: to stay in the Premier League, preferably with no play-off matches and reach the final of the prestigious cup of Russia. Everyone knows that the game is not ordinary and we will try to win it.” The president
was quoted as saying.
Speaking on the miserable conditions of the Russian pitches, Belous lamented the situation and urged the Russian Football Union to consider this matter seriously.
"Judging by the state of the field that I have seen during the broadcast of the last match between Ural and Niznhy Novgorod, it is not very good. I would have preferred to play at the great stadium in Grozny but Yekaterinburg deserves
at least one top-level game." Belous said.
