Indian all-rounder, Yusuf Pathan, was in a confident mood ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders Champions League T20 qualifier, hoping that his form would eventually lead to a national team recall.
In a practice match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 which took place last night, Pathan was in scintillating form for the Indian Premier franchise as he scored a quick fire half-century to guide the team to an easy success.
The bigger test awaits the team as they are set to lock horns with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 Aces on September 19, hoping to qualify from Pool A.
"There is no pressure on me. I have been doing well. I have confidence in my abilities and the team (read Kolkata Knight Riders) has confidence in me. I'm stroking the ball well and am sure that I will contribute for the team's cause," Yusuf said.
The player also believes that his performances would help him reclaim his place in the side after some disappointments, which included a mediocre World Cup 2011 and the consequent tour to the Caribbean.
“Insha Allah! I will be making a comeback soon. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444 (Pathan- his brother) will also comeback, he is working hard on his game," said the explosive batter.
The 28-year-old showed glimpses of his old self when he blasted the Hyderabad XI attack to direct his team to a 5-wicket victory ahead of the CLT20 qualifiers.
Chasing a target of 131, Pathan smashed a whirl wind knock of 53 in just 38 balls, which included four sixes and three fours.
The qualifiers will be staged in Hyderabad and the 28-year-old has a good track record on this turf, which he believes will give him the edge against his opponents.
Pathan was initially signed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672. He blossomed in the first season, scoring over 400 runs to guide his team to a deserving title.
In the next two editions he failed to achieve silverware; however, in 2010, he scored the fastest IPL century off 37 balls, which included 11 back to back boundaries ( 5 sixes and 6 fours).
This prompted KKR to spend a staggering 2.1 million US dollars to get his services for the 4th year of the competition.
