Yuuya Horihata and Syota Hara conquer second day of Men’s finals- 2011 Japan Open
Yuuya Horihata and Shota Hara conquer the finals of Men’s events on second day of the 2011 Japan Open National Swimming Championships.
The session included the finals of the 50m butterfly, 400m Individual Medley (IM), 50m breast-stroke, 200m back-stroke and the 400m freestyle final in the Men’s category.
The session started with the 400m IM, where Horihata cruised his way to the top of podium for the gold medal by touching the wall in a time of 4:12.96 minutes. He was followed by Daiya Seto and Kousuke Hagino, who followed him onto the podium for the silver and bronze medal, with timings of 4:13.42 and 4:14.58 minutes, respectively.
Next was the 50m butterfly final, where Syota Hara impressed the arena with an amazing effort of 23.95 seconds that placed him on the podium for the gold medal. Ryo Takayasu and Kohei Kawamoto followed him on the podium for the second and third position, clocking a time of 23.97 and 24.00 minutes, respectively.
The third event of the session was 50m breast-stroke, where the Ryo Tateishi proved his eligibility for the golden spot, by posting a time of 27.98 seconds for the gold medal. He was 0.18 seconds ahead of Kouichirou Okazaki, who settled on the podium for the silver crown, producing a time of 28.16 seconds. They were followed by Yuuki Okajima, who emerged on the podium for the bronze medal in a time of 28.17 seconds.
Then, the arena witnessed an amazing effort of 23-year-old Shogo Hihara, who won the gold medal with a timing of 3:50.93 minutes. He was only 0.78 seconds ahead of the Yasunari Hirai, who followed him on the finishing wall in 3:51.71 minutes for the silver medal. Junpei Higashi followed them on the wall for the third position, posting a time of 3:52.17 minutes.
The last event of the session was 200m back-stroke, where Ryosuke Irie claimed the gold medal with his 1:54.55 minutes effort. Kazuki Watanabe and Yuki Shirai finished their swims behind Irie and triumph silver and bronze medals in 1:57.68 and 1:58.77 minutes, respectively.
The championship will conclude on May 22, 2011 after the completion of all swimming events in the Men’s and Women’s category.
