Yuvraj Singh's inclusion gets mixed reactions from former Indian players- Cricket News Update
Following the return of star batsman Yuvraj Singh in the international cricket, former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, is keeping his ‘fingers crossed’ to see the 30-year-old play within months of recovering from cancer.
The swashbuckling left-hander was named in the 15-man squads for the forth coming T20 series against the Black Caps and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 T20 Championship, following a careful examination, in the light of his fitness reports, from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) -
soon after recovering from a life-threatening disease.
"We'll find out in time [how much he has recovered]. With the two T20 games against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, we'll come to know where he is. Happy to see him back to training after a tough phase, [but] I will be wrong if I say I'm not worried about his health. I have
my fingers crossed," the 40-year-old said.
Another former Test player and now commentator, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-Vijay-Manjrekar-c88628, shared Ganguly’s opinion and termed Yuvraj’s inclusion in the team as an “emotional decision” on part of the selectors, but welcomed the former vice-captain to don the Indian Blues again.
"He [Yuvraj] can only be a source of inspiration for the young players. We can't even imagine the trauma he has gone through,” said Manjrekar. “Yes, it is an emotional decision, but we want http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 back. He has shown the keenness to come back. We've
seen it when he turned up to support his IPL team Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 during the IPL,” Manjrekar further added.
The all-rounder, who played 37 Tests and 274 ODIs for his country, was named the Player of the Tournament after helping his side clinch their second World Cup triumph in 28 years.
But soon, the news of his illness took everyone with surprise after he was diagnosed with a rare germ-cell cancer between his lungs. A miraculous recovery however, enabled the batsman to return home in April following a successful treatment.
Soon after resuming training at NCA in June, Yuvraj expressed his eagerness to play for India in the 2012 World T20 and also wished to appear against the Kiwis in a bid to prepare for the mega-event in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next month.
