Yuvraj Singh “The Waterboy” Reacts To Taunts

Boy boy, water boy.” There were also reports that they praised Suresh Raina for taking Yuvraj’s place on the time.
The incident occurred after Yuvraj was spotted carrying drinks for his teammates. The fans that were in the members’ stand at the P Sara Oval, were jeering at him with chants of “water boy, water boy why ain't you playing.” Eyewitness reports even state that provocative and offensive gestures were shown to the player.
Yuvraj Singh has only been featured in 35 Tests in eight years, a player of his talent was expected to perform better and make more appearances. He was behind his player, maintaining that the unfortunate incident was not his fault. He said the intervention of the police was necessary to bring the situation under control. “I was sitting next to Yuvi when it happened and I can tell you they were trying to provoke the player. Naturally, it's a basic human tendency to react to situations when you are being repeatedly provoked but Yuvi was quite restrained. The police have taken the spectators out and we will definitely lodge a complaint.”
The 28 year old did not help matters when he reacted to the crowd’s jeering by showing them the middle finger. Teammate, Chetan Chauhan sympathized with Yuvraj, saying his frustration was justified. He said he knew that losing your spot in the Test side can be frustrating and that Yuvraj had overreacted, but he said that not everyone knows how to handle such situations. While Chauhan was behind his teammate over the recent incident, he was not too impressed with his recent performances.
Chauhan said that Yuvraj had no one to blame but himself for losing his place in the national side. Chauhan recalled all the fitness issues Yuvraj had over the years and said that his technique needed improvement as well. He was however, hopeful for the future, saying that he believed Yuvraj was a talented player and if he improved his form, he could guarantee himself a place in the Test side.
The Tamil Union Cricket and Athletics Club, which also owns the P Sara Oval, released a statement about the incident. Tony Perera the CEO of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletics Club said, "Tomorrow we are making a few adjustments but the fans will definitely come and see the teams play. We will take corrective and preventive measures tomorrow. Taverner was built to add luster to the club and not for fans to intoxicate and behave in a way that is detrimental to cricket.” Perera said. “It's very much a part of the place. Just a few people doesn't mean the whole club should be held responsible. I am still looking into the details of who those people were. But necessary action will be taken tomorrow.”
