http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 axed for third Test – Cricket News Update
Indian middle-order batsman, Yuvraj Singh has been omitted from the squad for the third and final Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
His replacement, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539.
For Yuvraj, it has been a stop start career in the longer version, where he again failed to cement his place in the side after below par performances in first two Test matches.
He got starts in each of his innings, however, his failure to convert them into big scores brought about his downfall in the eyes of the selectors. The all-rounder was making a return to the team after injuring himself in the second Test of the winless tour
of the Poms.
Since his World Cup heroics where he was named the Player of the Tournament, the left-hander has been troubled with a series of injuries, which has hindered his progress over the course of the past six months.
“It does not matter where you score runs," Dhoni said after the end of the Kolkata Test. "Yes, he [Yuvraj] is going through a tough phase but it's important to show confidence in him. We all know he is talented.
However, the skipper has backed the player to do well in the upcoming series. He will definitely be a part of the ODI squad which will see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 playing hosts to the Windies in 5 ODIs, starting from November 29.
"One more reason is that he has been in and out of the side. It's very difficult to back yourself. You have that bit of tentativeness. It's a bit tough on him. But hopefully he will recover and do well for India," added Dhoni.
The rest of the squad needed no tinkering but it will be interesting to see whether the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 get a reckoning after the Men In Blue took an 2-0 unassailable lead in the three- match Test series.
