Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh’s chances of making an early comeback to the cricketing world look strong after recent CT scans revealed that the scarring tissue near his lungs is almost entirely healed.
The 30-year-old was diagnosed late last year with a rare tumour located in between his lungs, and promptly flown to the United States to undergo treatment at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston under Dr. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899 veteran Lance Armstrong.
The left-hander returned to India after the completion of his therapy, and was initially hesitant about passing remarks regarding his comeback, saying he wanted to focus on his health and recovery.
However, speaking at a press conference last month while being honoured by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s 2011 World Cup win, the flamboyant batsman claimed that he was eager to be back on the field, and was looking at an early return to the sport in September this year.
The results of the recent examination, in comparison to the last http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Robert-Taylor-c50989 scan which was conducted on the cricketer in the US by Dr. Ion Horn 3 months ago, show considerable improvement, and the prospect of making an early comeback appears stronger than before.
“He is nearing full fitness and should be ready for the grind in a month's time,” sources close to the player confirmed.
Yuvraj, who won the Player of the Tournament award during the World Cup last year after claiming 15 wickets, scoring a total of 362 runs, and winning four Player of the Match awards, recently had his fitness assessed by a medical team at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He is also due to commence fitness drills, and has started batting, having played a four-an-over match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 (who is recovering from ankle surgery).
“This was the first match Yuvraj was playing after his treatment. He is feeling better now and will be fit to play for India soon,” sources confirmed, adding that the all-rounder had been putting in hours at the gym, along with regular yoga sessions.
