Yuvraj Singh eagerly anticipating comeback game – Cricket News Update
Indian all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s 2-match T20 series against New Zealand, after nearly a nine-month hiatus following his diagnosis and subsequent recovery from lung
cancer.
“It is going to be huge moment in my life. I can't wait for 8th (September) to come in,” he said. “Everyday, I put up status message, counting the number of days left. So two-three days, some hours to go.”
Player of the Tournament from India’s 2011 World Cup victory, Yuvraj’s cricketing career appeared to be at an all-time high before he was diagnosed with a rare form of germ cell cancer known as mediastinal seminoma in the later part of 2011.
The 30-year-old, who had suffered bouts of nausea and breathing difficulties during the World Cup campaign, was flown to the United States in January this year for the treatment of a tumour located in between his lungs, and underwent three sessions of chemotherapy
before he was allowed to return to India in April this year.
Post-recovery, the southpaw took to fitness training sessions at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, where he has been training since June in a bid to regain his fitness and make a comeback to the sport.
An initial plan to play domestic tournaments before attempting a return to international cricket came to naught, but Yuvraj’s perseverance at the NCA was rewarded when selectors reviewed his fitness reports and deemed them satisfactory enough to include
him in the 15-man squads for India’s upcoming 2-match T20I series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 during late September.
“I don't know how I will play,” Yuvraj said, expressing uncertainty regarding his performance in the upcoming matches. “All I know is that to get on the field is a huge achievement for me. I feel very proud of myself. I am thankful to my family, friend and
people of India for showering so much love on me. With all these emotions I will go on the field.”
