Yuvraj Singh eyeing his return in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 T20 World Championship - Cricket News Update
Indian star batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 believes that his fight against a rare germ cell cancer has changed him for good, both as a person and as a player, which will positively reflect on the way he approaches his game now.
"My approach towards the game has been changed. Of course, it will be the biggest achievement for me whenever I will play my first game for the country," the 30-year-old said.
Yuvraj first came to know about the nature of his illness in November last year, which was later confirmed as a cancer in January. The Indian batsman suffered from a rare condition called ‘mediastinal seminoma’ with a germ-cell tumor located between his
lungs.
However, after a remarkable recovery, the former Indian Vice-Captain came home to a hero’s welcome in April and resumed training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in June.
"I was in bed for 4-6 months and only I can feel what it means to be back on the field. Even I did not imagine that I will be able to play again but my progress has been good," Yuvraj said.
Once a serious contender to lead http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, the Chandigarh player now believes that he can make a comeback in the upcoming ICC World T20 Cup in September after the Indian selectors assured him that he’ll be considered for a spot among the Men in Blue.
"I am hitting the ball well. The hand-eye co-ordination is better although the feet movement is slow. The best part is that I don't get tired now. Hopefully, I will be able to make a comeback in T20 World Cup," the middle-order batsman said.
After making his debut in 2000, an inconsistent Test career only saw him play 37 Tests (1775 at 34.80), but he remained a permanent feature in the ODIs (8051 at 37.62) for India. The 30-year-old also captained Kinds XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 during the
Indian Premier League (IPL), along with his state team.
Yuvraj Singh was the hero in the Indian triumph at last year’s World Cup, helping his side to a second mega-event victory after a 28-year drought. His all-round performances with the bat (362 runs at 90.50) and ball (15 wickets at 25.13) rightly earned him
the Player of the Series.
