In an interview to the International Cricket Council, as per their official Twitter page, Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh revealed that he intended to make a comeback to the sport in time for the ICC World Twenty20, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka this
year in September.
“Hopefully I should be back by then” he tweeted in response to a question about whether he would be participating in the World T20, 2012. He also backed his team to win the upcoming tournament.
“I think (the) favourites are India because we’ve got the biggest hitters.”
After having won the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, the Men In Blue are widely considered favourites for the upcoming T20 tournament. In addition to being the reigning world champions, India will also be playing in familiar conditions, with the event scheduled to

Yuvraj last played for the national side in November 2011, during a Test match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Kolkata. Shortly afterwards, the 30-year-old was diagnosed with a rare germ cell tumour located between his lungs, and flown to the Cancer Research
Institute in Boston where he underwent chemotherapy under the supervision of famed cancer specialist Dr. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899 veteran Lance Armstrong.
Speculations regarding his return to the national team escalated after the flamboyant batsman returned to India post-treatment, and he confirmed to the media that he was aiming for an early comeback.
While speaking at a recent event organised by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s 2011 World Cup victory, the left-hander claimed that he was looking to make a comeback to the sport by September. Sources close to the cricketer
also confirmed that a recent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Robert-Taylor-c50989 scan revealed that the scarring tissue around his lungs was nearly healed, and that he would be easing back into the sport by playing in upcoming domestic tournaments.
“Playing for India is going to be a huge challenge for me because the body has been under a lot of shock,” Yuvraj said in his recent Twitter interview.
The all-rounder has also been undergoing fitness drills at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, in addition to easing into batting practice, and the World T20 presents the perfect opportunity for Yuvraj to make his return to cricket.
