Yuvraj Singh sets Test cricket as his benchmark
India’s world cup hero http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 is now trying to focus on the longer version of the game and wants to establish himself as a world-class Test cricketer.
Yuvraj is currently nursing a respiratory infection and this is the reason why he was ruled out of the complete tour of the Caribbean where a young Indian side is battling with the home team at the moment.
Stylish left hander is considered as a limited overs specialist as he has not been able to cement his place in the Test team over the years. He did play a couple of classical knocks in the longer version of the sport but could not carry the same kind of
a momentum afterwards.
The 29-year old all-rounder has set Test cricket as his next benchmark because he has nothing more to prove in the limited overs cricket where he is considered as one of the most dangerous players of the world.
Yuvraj said, “The only thing now is to concentrate on whatever Test cricket is left and just to excel in that. I’m 29, I still have a lot of years to go, and I think these will be my best years. If I could just get to 70-80 Test matches so I don’t have any
regrets when I retire.”
The left hander from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 is currently averaging 35.63 runs per innings in five-day cricket, which is not exceptional at all. However, his average of 37.62 runs per innings in One Day International cricket is very impressive as he has scored 13 hundreds
as well.
He was not in the best of forms in last couple of years but the aggressive middle order batsman bounces back in style during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 and was also named as the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances with both bat
and ball.
Yuvraj also praised the performances of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, who has done exceedingly well in Test cricket over the years.
“Greatness to me is two things. One is a cricketer who is always considered a team player and the other is someone who has scored everywhere in the world. In Tests of course, Veeru to me is a great player. He’s a legend because he has scored everywhere,”
he added.
