The stylish http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh – who is battling a non-malignant tumour in his lung - is eying the Commonwealth Bank series in Australia next year for his comeback to competitive cricket.
The 30-year-old world cup hero of India told the media reporters on Sunday that he is on course to a quick recovery and will soon take the field back.
"I'm getting ready to play again. I am targeting the ODI series in Australia," Yuvraj told the media reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event.
The Chandigarh all-rounder, who was adjudged as the Man of the Tournament for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, was diagnosed with a non-malignant tumour in his left lung last month. Due to the tumour, the middle-order
mainstay of India opted out of the recently concluded five-match home ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. He was also not picked for the Test leg of the upcoming Australia tour for the same reason.
When asked whether he had some disappointment at being unable to make the Australia squad, Yuvraj said, "No I'm not disappointed. For me health is more important."
Reminiscing the ordeal, Yuvraj said that it was a tough period for him and his family. The left-hander also acknowledged the support of his mother, Mrs. Shabnam Singh.
"It was a very difficult time. It was a crucial period for me and my family when I learnt about the tumour. My mother supported me a lot during my recovery," said Yuvi, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today.
"I didn't reveal about the diagnosis earlier as I did not want any extra attention from the media and the people," he further added.
India is scheduled to play four Tests and two T20 Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Yuvraj also congratulated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 for his record breaking double ton against West Indies last week and termed Sehwag’s 219-run knock as one of the best innings he had ever seen.
“It is one of the best innings I have ever seen. It is highly unlikely that any batsman will ever go past it," said the stylish Chandigarh cricketer.
