The stylish middle-order batsman of India, Yuvraj Singh has urged his side to win the ICC World Cup 2011 in a bid to prove that they are a strong team.

“…if we have to prove that we are a good team then we have to win matches,” said the batsman while talking to media. “It doesn't matter how strong the team is on paper. It's more important is to win games.”

When asked about his role in the soon-to-start extravaganza, the Punjab player said his responsibility would be to bat well in the middle overs depending on the situation.
The 29-year-old batting all-rounder had a struggling 2010 season which also saw him being degraded from Grade A to Grade B on the Board of Control for Cricket in India contract list.
The harsh memories of ICC World Cup 2007’s opener are still fresh in the minds of Indian cricket team when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 thwarted them with five wickets, a defeat that eliminated India from the event after the first round.
Once again India will be opening their World Cup campaign against Bangladesh but Yuvraj said that this time the side is well prepared for the prestigious tournament and will gain the momentum from the start.
“In the last World Cup, we didn't have the momentum going. So, this time around it is very important to get the momentum. We have to prepare well and see how we start the tournament,” he said.
The dashing middle-order batsman said that the bowling and batting department of India is strong and the only area which needs improvement is fielding.
