Yuvraj Singh, the best player in the World Cup 2011, regarded Kirsten as a “father figure", who would be missed in the days to come. "He always kept a check on me. He pulled me up when the chips were down. He is a father figure and I am going to miss him,"
Yuvraj said.
After bringing the Indian team to the top of both the One-Day and Test rankings, Kirsten has already ruled out the possibility of reconsidering his decision of ending his career as India’s coach.
Yuvraj Singh praised Kirsten’s efforts in the last three years and considered him as one of the major factors in India’s World Cup victory.
"Cricket has been in the right direction since Gary came on and I hope it will remain so," added the flamboyant all-rounder.

There have been many assumptions about Kirsten’s future plans. He confirmed that he had been offered the position as coach of the South African team, but he said he would make a decision after a few months.
Kirsten regarded his tenure with Indian team as a “magnificent journey”. It is a huge challenge for cricket India now to select the right person, who will take over the reins of Indian team after Gary Kirsten.
