Yves Jabouin defeats Walel Watson by split decision – UFC 140 Recap
The Canadian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Yves Jabouin won his bout against American MMA fighter Walel Watson. Their bout was held at UFC 140 produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The event was held on December
10, 2011 in Toronto, Canada. Jabouin won the fight through a split decision, 28-29, 29-28, 30-27.   
As the first round of the bout began, both men did not show any confidence in their stance and kept moving around in the ring, trying to find an opportunity. Watson, the 27-year-old, fighter showed his aggression with a back kick.
His kick was sudden but it was off target. Watson then went for a punch but Jabouin made a good counter move with his hook. Watson was in the hunt to get an early advantage and kept striking with his punches and feet. Jabouin was focusing on his kicks which
included the spinning back kick.
Jabouin could not connect with his kick but he did manage to give a right overhand punch. As the first round progressed, both fighters collided with punches. Watson was powerful as he made Jabouin to move back. Watson kept his
onslaught going as Jabouin was pinned against the cage and eventually went down on the mat.
Watson did manage to do some offensive fighting and came back on his feet taking a vertical stance. Jabouin was on the attack and did not let Watson do any striking or punching. In the final seconds of the first round, both fighters
were throwing their punches but they were not successful in hitting any punches.
With the second round in progress, Jabouin was showing some aggression. He managed to counter a kick by Watson but he was able to counter the move with a punch. Watson ate a strong punch but he kept his balance in the ring. Jabouin
was trying to get some advantage as he went for a spinning back kick. Watson was going strong but Jabouin came back with an aggressive takedown which made Watson crash down on the mat.
Jabouin went in for the punches but Watson was ready as he locked Jabouin in his guillotine choke submission move. As the last ten seconds of the second round get underway, Watson seems to get the win but Jabouin managed to get
away from the lock.
The third round was the decisive one as both fighters were going for the win. The two fighters showed some aggression and gave some strikes. Watson was not that aggressive as he was when the bout started. Watson then got the chance
to give some elbow shots which did reduced Jabouin’s momentum. Watson was again in the hunt to put his opponent in a submission move but Jabouin was attentive and moved out of the way. The third round ended with none of the fighters getting any knock out chance.
The judges gave the decision in favour of Jabouin as he won the fight 28-29, 29-28, 30-27.
