Yvon Ledanois joines Team BMC as an Assistant Sports Director
After serving Team Caisse d'Epargne/ Movistar through 2011, Yvon Ledanois has joined Team BMC as an assistant sport director, as per the team announcement earlier.
The former Vuelta a Espana stage winner helped his previous sides with numerous top performances through 2012 season and is optimistic to make full use of the opportunity by helping Team BMC in the year ahead.
“I hope to bring my experience for the benefit of the team and it can be in combination with John (Lelangue) and joining directors Max Sciandri and Fabio Baldato, whom I have known since our own racing days”, he said in a BMC press release.
“I sincerely believe that there is a huge potential in the team to make great results in the Tour de France and other races and I'm excited about this new adventure".
Team BMC General Manager John Lelangue welcomes the new inclusion in the team and briefed that his experience can really help the American team in the season ahead.
"Yvon is already an experienced sport director and he's been with Caisse d’Epargne and Movistar in many stage races," Lelangue said.
He cited that Yvon’s experience with the Spanish races can be really useful for the team especially at the events like Volta a Catalunya and the Vuelta a Espana.
Team Movistar has done well in the 2012 season with its fifth overall position after the UCI World Tour team’s rankings.
Alejandro Valverde made the major contributions with as many as 394 UCI points and helped the team to overcome Team Orica-GreenEdge with a mere difference of 21 UCI points.
Rui Costa (309 UCI points), Benat Intxausti (47 UCI points), Vasil Kiryienka (41 UCI points) and Jonathan Castroviejo (40 UCI points) also helped the team with the top-five finish.
Team BMC is currently at the seventh overall position after the UCI World Tour team rankings with a total number of 917 UCI points under his belt.
Former Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans helped the team with the maximum number of 182 UCI points throughout the season.
Alessandro Ballan secured the second highest, 172 UCI points while Tejay Van Garderen securing the third position with 160 UCI points.
Greg Van Avermaet and the new UCI Road World Champion Philippe Gilbert helped scored 121 and 112 UCI points throughout 2012 season.
The team is hopeful that Ledanois can do his bit to help the team in improving its position for the 2013 season and at least finish amongst top-five at the UCI World Tour team rankings next year.
