y on magazines in the U.S. it shows u the price in Canada but not any other country? Does Mexico, Spain, China, etc. not listen to country?

  1. This is just a guess from me =) I really don't have a source for this...

    Since Canada is America's closest neighbour whose first language is English, and is the biggest importer of American products, it makes sense that American publishers include the price for Canadian retailers. Up until the last eight months or so, the difference between the US and Canadian dollar allowed the publishers to set much higher pricetags for Canadian consumers as well, ensuring that a small profit was made with the exported items.

    Very few retailers outside of North America carry magazines published here (tends to only be large bookstores or specialty shops), so there's no sense to include prices for every country and currency on the cover. It also allows those retailers to price the magazines to their liking so they can also make a profit (after all, it costs them to import the magazines to their country). That's what is often done here with magazines from the UK: the retailer prices it themselves, so I can only assume the same is done everywhere else.
