Yz 125 05 sprocket change

ive got a yz 125 05 and the sprockets are a little worn now so ive got my new chain and sprockets to put on,but i dont know how to set the axle blocks propley,when i put new chain on were do they have to be ,do they have to be as far foward as they can go or in the middle i dont know,also what does the gap on the chain have to be ,ive heard its 2 1/2 inches but im not sure also do you have to sit on the bike when you measure it THANKS

  1. I like to set them as close to the middle as possible, but thats just what set up I like. Dont cut the chain too long and have the axle blocks too far back because when the chain stretches, yopu will have to cut it or get it cut again. setting it in the middle allows you to have a little play in the blocks should the chain stretch.....

    a good rule to go by as far as chain tightness. you have a chain slider that lies along the top of your swing arm.... this is what I do....

    put your fingers, 3 high at the end of your chain slider, and thats about how tight a chain should be....

    or get a socket extention and put it between your chain and rear sprocket. turn the wheel backwards until the extention becomes stuck between the chain and sprocket, then turn them to the 12 o'clock position, adjust blocks so they are even, then tighten the axle.... then remove the extention....
