Question:

Yz 125 Gas oil mix question?

I've had it for 2 months (I bought it used). We are running what the dealership and the previous owner told us to do as far as the gas-oil mix. Yet after one ride the back of the right number plate is absolutely smothered in black oil-looking stuff. And it leaks a little bit somewhere in the middle of the pipe too. I do NOT think this is supposed to happen.

Can you please help me?

  1. 32:1, but thats not going to stop the spooge

either: the jetting is too rich or the clutch side crank seal is leaking

  2. It depends on how hard/fast you are riding.  If you use a synthetic oil they offer greater flexibility on the mix ratios.  I've used 32:1 while racing and 50:1 with the same bike and oil while trail riding.  When you get the right mix the exhaust should be dry, no oil in or coming out of the pipe.  The other postings have good suggestions about exhaust leaks etc...  But if the jetting is right (the engine runs well) the exhaust should not contain enough oil to splatter the bike.

What is best?, start with 32:1 then try 36:1, if you still have a wet pipe go to 38:1 and so on until you have relatively dry exhaust.  Like I said, synthetic oils are pretty flexible.

  3. it has nothing to do with your mix. i use 32:1/ four gallons to 16 ounces of oil. its the way your riding it. on a two stroke, they do drip a little, but you need to ride ont he top of your rmps, it pushes everything out and you get better compression and clear intake and ehaust. You make be riding it too low on the throttle. also it drips int he middle becuase its not sealed off or the exhause seal broke, get some heat silocone and aply to the joint, and get  a new ehauset collar

  4. The standard oil/gas ratio for 80cc, 85cc, 125cc is 40:1

this is what i run in my kx 125

If you do have a leak in the pipe its not that bad....but it will take a tiny bit of power away and make the bike louder.

There isnt any rush to get it replaced though

you can run a ratio of 25:1 anywhere to 60:1 but i wouldnt recommend going too far below 40:1. The 2 stroke is lacks enough lubrication as it is

    cheers

  5. some oils will do this even if you are running the right mix. Try some different oils and find one that you like. But in most cases you will still get some oil coming out, its just what 2 strokes do

  6. I run synthetic at 50:1.
