Z100 the radio station?

i really like the kind of music it plays but all ive heard is that it was only in new york is it posible i could lisen to it in chicago

  3. It amazes me what in the past was common knowledge has become so muddied. This is not the questioners fault.

    All commercial broadcast stations (over-the-air) are licensed to one city and one only. That many are available elsewhere via streaming does not change that.

    The Z-100 you speak of (and there are several), is licensed to New York and that's the only area in which they are allowed to broadcast... over-the-air

    Nowdays, though, stations are paying royalties for the privilege of "streaming" their content to various other areas by way of the internet.

    Whether this is a positive thing or not is in great debate among radio professionals.
