Zab Judah, Vernon Paris to clash in March for a 12-round bout – Boxing news
Zab Judah, one of the most prolific American boxers and former undisputed world welterweight champion, has been scheduled to take on Vernon Paris, the former USBA light welterweight title holder in a 12-round bout which will take place on March 24, 2012.
Zab and Vernon will collide at Aviator Sports Complex and Event Center which is located at Floyd Bennett Field situated in Brooklyn, New York. The bout is basically an IBF junior welterweight eliminator clash which will decide who will move forward to compete
Lamont Peterson, the current junior welterweight title holder.
The clash will be televised on NBC sports network’s program ‘Fight Night’ which is televised every week on Saturday. Judah and Vernon both are of equal level and capability. They both have achieved feats that can easily intimidate even those pugilists who
have collected a decent experience. Judah has been in a total 50 bouts.
His resume is heavily impressive as far as the number of bouts is concerned. Judah has lost just seven brawls and came out victorious in 41. Judah secured most of his victories by knocking the opponent out, to be specific 28 wins by KO. It must be noted
that Judah is coming from an upset loss to the Brit Amir Khan. Zab, infamous as the Super was unable to retain his IBF light welterweight title and lost his senses in just the fifth round.
Vernon, renowned as the Iceman, on the other hand has been in a total 29 brawls. He has won 23 of his total brawls remaining being denoted by the officials as No Contest. Vernon has knocked 15 of his opponents out cold and annihilated Tim Coleman to win
the USBA light welterweight title.
Both men are well known for their aggressive punching and witty tactics therefore a huge bout is definitely expected. The only facet that should to some extent intimidate Vernon is Judah’s clear upper hand over him as far as the experience is concerned.
Apart from that even in almost double the number of brawls Vernon went in, Judah has a knock out percentage of 56 which is much better than the Iceman’s 51.72.
The duo has won several laurels which include not only the titles but also nailing of challengers and pugilists who create havoc in their divisions. Judah alone has been the world title owner five times in five different divisions.
