Zab Judah beats Kaizer Mabuza – Boxing news
Zab Judah has received many harsh comments from opponents because he was not so impressive in his fight against Lucas Matthysse that was fought in November. It was a very tactical bout.
Judah was the winner of early rounds because of his superior skills. Overall, it was a very close contest between them and probably many of them could have gone either way. In the tenth round Matthysse came even more strongly and Judah was sent to the canvas.
Even though Zab Judah was hurt badly but finally he won the bout through a split decision.
Arguably, the 140 pound weight class is the broadest division in boxing. Great match-ups are expecting to be made in that division. Many of these fighters have already paired off such as Khan versus Maidana.
Timothy Bradley is broadly viewed as the best opponent to be included in the group with Amir Khan. One fighter that may be ignored is the former undisputed welterweight champion of the world, Zab Judah (40-6, 27 KOs), who is going to face Kaizer Mabuza (23-6-3,
14 KOs) according to the official schedule.
They will be fighting for the vacant IBF title on March 5 at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Zab Judah is looking more comfortable. His maintained speed and strength has taken him back to gain 140 pounds. This was clearly observed in his fight
with Jose Armando Santa Cruz last July. He stopped him in three rounds. Although this fight was stopped later as being small piece over 140.
However, Lucas Matthysse has proven that he is one of the toughest and strongest contenders at 140 pounds. Matthysse after getting defeated by Judah recovered his loss by defeating former champion ‘Chop Chop’ Corley in an eighth round stoppage. He knocked
him down eight times. Lucas Matthysse is not an easy fighter to fight with because he has shown that he is a talented and skilful fighter and primarily because of his big punch ability.
The fight between Zab Judah and Kaizer Mabuza promises to be entertaining. The fight between Judah and Mabuza has the potential to be very entertaining. At the time when Judah was struggling against Matthysse mean while Mabuza caused an upset by winning
over Kendall Holt in a competitive bout.
No doubt Judah has the speed and the skills to outbox Mabuza, but he lost many dominating fights just because he was not so focused. If Mabuza could properly determine Zab’s rhythm that would be very interesting fight for the viewers.
Many boxing observers are of the view that Zab Judah will win this fight impressively. Because he has got enough hand speed and timing that will be too much to upset Mabuza. Zab can deliver jabs effectively from a distance. He can control the Mabuza’s actions
in close quarters because of his distinct styles of uppercuts and hooks. In that sense can comfortably outbox Mabuza by scoring points.
Judah’s fans were very disappointed when he lost a technical decision against Joshua Clottey. Primarily, because Judah has lost his four fights out of six competitive fights. At that time he appeared like a declining boxer. He lost his recognition as an
A-level talented boxer. It cannot be denied that he has all the physical tools any great fighter could hope for, as well as tremendous hand speed to punch effectively and outstanding textbook fundamentals as his prominent strengths. However, his major flaw
was observed, as the diversion of his concentration.
If Judah is focused, he can beat anybody at 140 pounds including Khan and Bradley. The good news for the Judah’s lovers is that he has move back down to 140 pounds. Judah is now getting trained under the guidelines of Hall of Fame boxer Pernell “Sweet Pea”
Whitaker, a new trainer for him. He is working hard to keep his concentration in right direction.
