Zach Britton strikes out ten as Baltimore Orioles outclass Chicago White Sox 5-3 – MLB Update

Baltimore Orioles showed great composure and fighting spirit to edge the Chicago White Sox 5-3 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday, August 30 in the finale of their four match series.
With their win, the Orioles also wrapped up an impressive 3-1 series victory. In some ways it was an extremely crucial win for Buck Showalter and company as they are now just three games behind the American League East Division leaders New York Yankees.
Not many baseball analysts and writers expected the Orioles to reach the playoffs before the start of the season. It will be interesting to see if the Orioles can shut their critics by making it to the post season after almost a decade.
White Sox, on the other hand, will be extremely disappointed with the outcome of the series. With Detroit Tigers losing three straight games at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, they had an excellent chance to consolidate their position at the top of American
League Central Division standings but that did not turn out to be the case.
"You've got to go in there and put this series behind us and hopefully go into Detroit and play well," catcher A.J. Pierzynski said. "The Orioles are playing well right now. They have a confidence about them, especially at home. We're out of here now and
we have to worry about Detroit."
Starting pitcher Zach Britton pitched eight effective innings, allowing just one run on seven hits with ten strike-outs for his fourth win of the season.
"Trust me, this group is going to have fun with it," Baltimore manager Buck Showalter said.
"If he can go out and give you eight innings with no walks, he's going to be hard to beat," Jones said. "That was the most impressive I've seen him."
Catcher Taylor Teagarden had an excellent time on home plate as he homered to right in the third inning to level the score 1-1. J.J. Hardy added a double to deep left and Adam Jones smacked a two run home-run to left in the third to put Orioles in a commanding
4-1 position.
