Zach Parise, Ryan Suter ready to take Minnesota Wild to new heights -NHL Update
With a fresh 13-year, $96 million contract, the Minnesota Wild organisation is not the only one with high expectations from Zach Parise and Ryan Suter in the upcoming National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Fans are going wild for the two highlighted players of this year’s free agency as Zach Parise left New Jersey Devils and Ryan Suter shifted from Nashville Predators to amazingly join Minnesota in their pursuit of hockey glory.
Playing with some like Ryan Suter, Zach Parise believes that he will be able to contribute to making the team one of the best.
Both players expressed their intentions and optimism for the future during an introductory press conference in Minnesota on Monday.
"I think at the end of the day, hopefully, with Ryan and I coming here, good players want to play with good players," Parise said. "Hopefully that helps influence some people if they need some and we have a lot of friends around the league so hopefully that
will help, too."
Coming to a team like Minnesota was a surprising move by the two for sure as players of such calibre usually choose teams that already have the credential of being a Stanley Cup winner.
"Free agents of Zach and Ryan's caliber are often attracted to the major markets where there is more attention, brighter spotlights, and frankly, more money," Wild owner Craig Leipold said. "These two chose Minnesota over those things and, in doing so, they
have transformed our franchise. We've all walked a little taller since July 4."
Parise, former captain of New Jersey, definitely is a high flying forward who can score some goals. Last season, he had 69 points (31 goals, 38 assists) in 82 games played.
Ryan Suter on the other hand, is known to be one of the best defensemen in the league with 46 points (7 goals, 39 assists) last season in 79 games. Suter’s stats show that he is a perfect player to put alongside Zach Parise as the 27-year-old can set up
the goals while the later can make them happen.
Minnesota, the fans, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter certainly have a lot to look forward to next year for sure.
