Zach Parise wants to stay with New Jersey Devils, not planning transition to New York Rangers
Zach Parise went public with his thoughts about the future on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, about how his first priority was staying with the New Jersey Devils along with squashing rumours about him moving to rival team, the New York Rangers.
With his one-year, $6 million contract coming to an end on July 1st, the young captain will be turning into an unrestricted free agent, which will definitely have teams around the league scrambling to make an offer that he might not be able to
refuse.
Parise was not shy is stating the fact that he wants to stay in New Jersey, but it is still not sure whether the Devils are ready to meet his terms and conditions anytime soon or are willing to allow him to test the free market before making an offer.
“I’ve said all along I love playing here,” Parise said. “I’ve always appreciated everything that this organization has done for me. My feelings have never changed.”
Martin Brodeur, their veteran New Jersey goaltender, is also set to become an unrestricted free agent, believes that keeping Zach Parise on the club is vital for the team due to a lot of different reasons.
One being that he is the face of the organisation that also led them to the Stanley Cup Finals this time around.
"I hope the Devils will be able to keep him because I think he is the face of the Devils," said Brodeur. "He's a kid that people, they see him and they see a Devil. They see the type of work ethic he has and that says a lot to other guys. I said it after
the game the other day, first year as a captain, not too shabby to bring a team like us to the Stanley Cup Final.”
Zach Parise showed much potential this past National Hockey League (NHL) regular season with 69 points (31 goals, 38 assists) in 82 games played.
It will be interesting to see how New Jersey Devils and Zach Parise work out their relationship for the future in the upcoming days. Developments between the two stakeholders should be expected before the free agency deadline.
