Zach Railey tumbles down from Top 10 of Finn class: 2012 London Olympic Games
Sailing competition in the 2012 London Olympic Games are getting tougher with each passing day because of intense clashes and strong wind conditions. The teams representing different sailing classes are giving their best to maintain their overall good result.
Struggling on the Weymouth and Portland waters, the US Olympic Sailing Team is determined to make it to the higher finishes of overall standings. At the end of third day proceedings, the squad as a whole improved their rankings with outstanding performance
in the respective races. But after that, the teams failed to retain their positions and slipped down once again.
America’s Finn class sailor, Zach Railey, performed convincingly form the start of the regatta and was able to place himself in the Top 10 standings of the event but unfortunately, like the rest of the squad, he was also unable to maintain his overall seventh
position and dropped down.
At the end of fifth day proceedings of the regatta, Railey was placed on 12th spot which was really disappointing for the sailor as well as for the squad. Nevertheless, Railey is still hopeful for a strong run ahead in the event and believes he
will be able to pull a noticeable position.
While speaking to the local media, Railey said, “Obviously things haven’t gone the way I wanted them to. It’s very disappointing to set high goals and not be there at the end of the week. I’m not going to let this get me down. I have two more races tomorrow.
I’m going to go out and do the best that I can.”
