Zach Randolph, O.J. Mayo: NBA Playoffs Top Performances May 13, 2011
On Friday, only one game was played and that was the game-6 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The top performances of that game are as:
Memphis Grizzlies 95 – Oklahoma City Thunder 83
Zach Randolph led the Memphis Grizzlies as they avoided elimination and defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 95-83 in game-6 on Friday night at the FedEx Forum, Memphis. With this victory, the Grizzlies pushed the Western Conference
semi-finals to its deciding game-7.
After the game a frustrated Kevin Durant said, “It was frustrating to go out there and prepare so hard and not play as hard as I wanted to. But I have to stay positive. My teammates always encourage me, so I feel good about that.
I just have to get back to work tomorrow. It's going to be a tough Game 7 at our place, so I'm looking forward to it.”
Zach Randolph
Randolph, who finally found the room to score after game-1, thumped 30 points together with 13 rebounds and blocked two shots.
Randolph said, "This is where we want to be playing, Game 7, that one game to get to the Western Conference finals. It's important. I feel good, but the job ain't done yet. We know it's going to be tough going to Oklahoma trying
to win that game. We believe we can do it, and we're committed."
During his 40 minutes stay on court Zach made 12 of 22 field goals, but was dazzling from the paint area as he hit six of his eight attempts.
In the third quarter the Grizzlies pulled within 55-56 as they used an 11-2 surge, Randolph hit four points during the rally.
O.J. Mayo
Memphis coach Lionel Hollins shuffled his starting roster and the crucial move proved fruitful for him in the end. Hollins moved O.J. Mayo from the bench to the starting line-up again as he was shifted to the bench earlier in January.
As, after the 34 points in the first game the Thunder limited Randolph to just 31.9 percent shooting Hollins pushed Mayo in place of Sam Young, whose attack from outside and ability to penetrate the interior of the Thunder made
room for Zach to go from the paint and Randolph make the move count.
During his 39 minutes of stay Mayo made 16 points, rebounded four, assisted two and blocked four shots that helped the Grizzlies in snatching a critical win. He was six of 12 from the field and two of four from three-point range.
