Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol lead Memphis Grizzlies to a 113-93 win over Houston Rockets - NBA Recap
Memphis Grizzlies are the team on a rise. Last year when no one was expecting them to go beyond the first round, but they stunned everyone by making it to the Western Conference semi finals. And had they managed to hold nerves
in the 7th game of the semi finals, they might have made it into the finals and who knows from there, might have lifted the trophy as well.
They have the league’s best front court duo in the form of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Although, the duo looked a bit offbeat in the team’s first two losses this season, last night they led the team to their first win of the
season against Houston Rockets.
Both Gasol and Z Bo were aggressive on the night and combined for a 17 for 22 effort from the field tonight. Zach was more dominant amongst the two and pounded game high 23 points on 11 for 14 along with 9 rebounds with while Marc
had 20 points and 8 rebounds.
Other players also played their part to perfection. Jeremy Pargo drained 14 points while Quincy Pondexter and OJ Mayo, coming off the bench also chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively.
Grizzlies out rebounded Rockets 42-33 and shot an impressive 56.2 % from the floor in contrast to Rockets 43 %.  Rockets were rusty and committed 19 turnovers in the game.
Kevin Martin led the Rockets with 21 points including 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Kyle Lowry had 15 points and 8 assists while the reserve Chandler Parsons in his 16:49 minutes on the court, accumulated 13 points.
Josh Selby drove to the rim for a layup in the dying moments of the first quarter to put Grizzlies in front 30-28  and pushing the momentum further, the Grizzlies fuelled off a 10-2 spurt in the starting minutes of the second to
boost their lead to double figures 40-30.
The Rockets fought hard in the ensuing passage but failed to eliminate the double digit lead and the Grizzlies were safely placed at 57-51 by the end of first half. They then started the third frame with an 18-7 spurt and after
dominating the quarter, closed it with another 7-3 burst to completely turn the game to their side.
Rockets never managed to recover from the massive deficit and in the end lost by a mammoth 30 point margin.
