Zach Randolph less Memphis Grizzlies rout Sacramento Kings 113-96: NBA Recap
Memphis Grizzlies entered the game against the Sacramento Kings, a night after being bashed by the Chicago Bulls and without their ace player Zach Randolph, who in nursing a bruised right knee and is expected to be out for at least
a month.
However on the night, the wounded Grizzlies came out strong and took out all their anger on Sacramento Kings, battering them 113-96.
"We had to get it out of our mind," said guard Mike Conley, who was making a comeback after missing two games due to a sprained left ankle, "That was a terrible way to lose. We just didn't put forth the effort. But I think we did
a good job of putting it in the back of our mind. New day, new game."
Conley played an important role in the win by chipping in with 14 points and 7 assists. Marc Gasol also netted 14 and pulled down 15 rebounds while O.J Mayo came off the bench and added 16, knocking down 8 for 11 from the floor.
But it was Rudy g*y and Sam Young who stole the show.
In the absence of Randolph g*y and Young carried the team. g*y pounded the game high 23 points on 10 for 16 from the floor while Young finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds.
Grizzlies were better than Kings in most of the departments. They outrebounded them 49-41 and shot an impressive 54.9 from the floor in comparison to Kings 41 percent.
Rookie Jimmer Fredette marshalled the Kings with 17 points while Isaiah Thomas registered 15. JJ Hickson (12) was the only player from the starting lineup that managed to produce a decent tally.
With scores levelled at 9 all in the first four minutes, Grizzlies rattled off an 11-4 run to get in the driving seat and maintained the domination throughout the frame. Kings however bounced back in the second quarter and reeled
off two 9-2 runs - one early and the other deep into the period - to finish the first half at 50-52.
Grizzlies however started the third frame with a blow out 17-6 run to land themselves in the commanding position again, and after that they never looked back.
