Zack Greinke becomes second-highest paid pitcher in baseball history – MLB Special

With a recent $147 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Zack Greinke has become the second-highest paid Major League Baseball player in the recent history. The New York Yankees’ starter CC Sabathia signed $161 million deal in 2009 which is still the highest any starter received.
After signing with the Dodgers, Greinke was recently introduced in a press conference at Dodger Stadium where he also hoped for a better beginning from next season onwards. During the press conference, the Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson was also present and he too seemed confident for former Los Angeles Angels’ starter’s arrival in the South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
"I can answer that real quick and let Zack get back (to answering questions), We want to win," rising from a chair and stepping in front of Greinke at the microphone, Dodger co-owner Magic Johnson said.
Later Greinke said, "That's what it gets to at the end, But I don't want to say that's the only reason I came here. Going into it (free agency), I made a list of 10 things that were important to me. Each one had a different level of importance. The Dodgers had every single one of them. The only thing it didn't is that I live in Florida and my family is there and LA is all the way out here.”
Some say that the Dodgers have spent too much money on signing Greinke. Though earlier news came out in the media that Texas Rangers are most likely to sign Greinke however, at the very last moment, Greinke’s agent considered Dodgers’ offer more suitable for his client.
Greinke last played for the Los Angeles Angels and did very well by showed his worth after performing his extraordinary skills. He finished the season achieving 3.48 ERA along with 15-5 win-loss, 200 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP.
Not only he performed well in the 2012 Major League Baseball season, but he also possesses a good career 3.77 ERA along with 91-78 win-loss, 1332 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP. Experts believe that Greinke will prove a great addition in the Dodgers’ franchise and will be showing them his best skills with his best abilities.
