Zack Greinke enjoying his stint with Milwaukee Brewers as challenges grow for the team – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ impending free-agent pitcher Zack Greinke said on Wednesday, July 25, that he enjoys playing with the Brewers, and really does not want to think about any other thing while he is representing his team.
His comments were in response to the swirling rumours about his trade. While there are a lot of teams immensely interested in acquiring the player, which team will eventually succeed in the acquisition is something that is not really known at this point in time.
Zack Greinke, the quality starter of the Brewers, does not want to be bothered by the possible contenders for the bid. As of now, his entire focus is on serving the team to the best of his ability. He seems to have left everything to the team’s general manager for now.
"I really don't want to think about a different team while I'm on this team," Greinke said. "[General manager Doug Melvin] hasn't said anything to me about them trading me, so I'm assuming I'll still be here. Obviously, something could happen, but I enjoy playing here."
The Brewers are scheduled to have the first of four-game series against the Washington Nationals from Thursday. For the first game, the Brewers will have Yovani Gallardo as starter.
The Washington Nationals have their view on the impending Trade Deadline. The team manager of the Nationals, Davey Johnson, is understandably quite cautious about it.
"Any time you make a move, you give up something," Johnson said. "Maybe it might help you this year, but it might hurt you next year. I don't believe in doing things that just help you today and aren't going to help you tomorrow."
The Brewers are suffering from one a big slump this season. They could not win even a single game against the Philadelphia Phillies during their road trip, causing palpable concern within the team camp.
As the Nationals are in good form, the four-game series will be a tough challenge for the Brewers which have yet to find a way out when it comes to the trade of the key club players.
