Zack Greinke gets opt-out clause with Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB Update
Former Los Angeles Angels star pitcher Zack Greinke has recently signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers with a six year hefty deal. Though he got everything in his recent contract but he did not get no-trade clause in his $147 million deal.
However, he did get a sort of semi-no trade-clause which he can exercise over the next five years. Greinke will have an opt-out clause which allows him to become a free agent after being potentially traded in 2015.
“It was actually really big, I’ve been trying to get an opt-out in every contract I’ve ever negotiated. It gives you more freedom. Every time someone has it, it seems like it can only be a positive. There’s no negative to it,” Greinke said Tuesday after
his introductory press conference at Dodger Stadium.
The former Angels star is still happy as he made a good bargain with the Dodgers. Dodgers recently introduced him in a press conference where they also called their recent contract with Greinke, one of the biggest in Dodgers’ franchise history.
Dodgers’ president Stan Kasten has also commented in the media over Greinke’s arrival in the frnachise, “We looked at this year and the next couple years: Who’s likely to be free?”
Greinke’s agent Casey Close also said, “It gave him some flexibility and it gave him a little bit of control over the process. He doesn’t go into it with any other intent but to be here, but three years from now we won’t know that.”
Greinke is a highly talented Major League Baseball player and coming in the Dodgers with full thrust. He knows his worth and also knows when to open his offensive game.
Starting his career in 2004 from the Kansas City Royals platform, Greinke later went into the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Angels. He showed a good spirited season with the Angels last season. He performed well and showed the Angels his true offensive
class.
Earlier it was believed that Angels are interested to re-sign Greinke but at the very last moment, news came out in the media that eight-year Major League experienced has decided to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
