Zack Greinke will start on disabled list for Milwaukee Brewers this season
In what happened to be a disappointing situation for the Milwaukee Brewers, it was made clear to club management that Zack Greinke will be missing the start of the season. The maestro, who was in contention for the first spot in the rotation, faced a devastating
blow, as he now starts on the disabled for the club. His Spring Training workout focused mainly on basketball in Phoenix, Arizona. Greinke’s fractured rib is the cause for the sideline.
Zack sustained the injury in the first week of Spring Training before the games in Cactus League kicked off. Brewers’ physician, William Raasch, has affirmed the player’s move to recovery, which has been underway for the past two weeks.
"I've been doing this for a couple years now, and people are always saying, 'You're going to get hurt,'" Greinke said. "It finally caught up to me."
Greinke told the press, he had hoped for the damage to be limited to being a bruise only, which at the end turned out to be the worst case scenario. The pitcher iterated that it was required of him to stop playing baseball now. Commenting on his past time
activity, he said, it was fun while it lasted. Nevertheless, Greinke changed the topic of discussion when he analyzed that it was not worth anything.
"We're not talking about this gross deformed fracture," said Raasch. "We're talking about something very subtle that we can barely see, and we found it on the MRI. We're not that concerned about it, except the fact that it's bad timing. He's got a sore rib
because he fell on it, and unfortunately you stress your ribs when you throw baseballs hard.”
The head physician explained the situation further as he outlined a one to two weeks time line for Greinke to start recovering.  After a positive response from the ball thrower, the club would get him into a throwing workout program to buildup his speed
and ability for the upcoming challenge.
